FAQs
Got questions. We've got answers.
Product
Are Re. sunglasses actually designed for running?
Yes. Every design decision starts with the run. The frames are built to sit securely without bouncing, the lenses are chosen for running conditions (not just bright sun), and the fit is tested for movement, not just standing still. We designed these because most sunglasses people run in weren't built for it.
What makes Re. different from other running sunglasses?
Most performance sunglasses compromise on optics to protect margins. We use premium polycarbonate lenses across the range. Significantly more expensive to manufacture, but they deliver far better clarity, impact resistance, and durability. The frames are then designed around those lenses: lightweight, ventilated, stable at pace, and tested by real runners. The goal is simple: sunglasses you actually forget you're wearing.
Do they bounce when I run?
No. The frames are built with grip-tip temple arms and nose contact systems specifically designed to stay put during running movement. They're not held in place by nose pressure alone. The contact points work together to keep the frame stable at any pace.
Are they UV400?
Yes, every Re. lens is UV400 rated, blocking 100% of UVA and UVB radiation. The Aussie sun is not forgiving, and eye damage from UV is cumulative. Every run counts.
Are Re. sunglasses suitable for activities other than running?
Absolutely. While Re. is built around running, the frames work great for cycling, hiking, golf, team sports and everyday outdoor use. The photochromic lenses (Adaptor and Infinity) are especially versatile. They can even be worn indoors as eye protection in certain environments.
How durable are Re. sunglasses?
Very. The TR-90 frames are flexible, heat-resistant, and designed to handle the wear of consistent training. The polycarbonate lenses are impact-resistant. Re.silience is our most durable frame specifically, built for trail running and rough conditions.
Where are Re. sunglasses made?
Re. is designed in Australia. We work with global manufacturing partners for components, but the design process, testing, and quality decisions are all driven from here, built around real Australian running conditions.
How do I care for my sunglasses?
Clean your lenses with the microfibre cloth included with your order. For a deeper clean, we recommend the After the Run Lens Cleaning Kit. It's formulated specifically for polycarbonate lenses and doesn't have all the nasty chemicals found in other cleaning sprays. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. When you're not using them, store them in the protective case. It keeps the lenses scratch-free and the frame in shape.
Lenses
What's the difference between the four lens systems?
Infinity is the full stack: photochromic + polarised + anti-fog + UV400 + high impact resistance. Best for runners who want one lens that does everything. Adaptor is photochromic. It adapts to changing light, going near-clear in low light. Purity is high-clarity polarised with a Revo coating, best for consistent bright conditions. Protector is polycarbonate with impact resistance and glare reduction, built for durability. Head to the Lens Guide or take the quiz for a personalised recommendation.
What does photochromic mean?
Photochromic lenses react to UV light. They go darker in bright conditions and near-clear in low light, so one lens handles most running conditions without you thinking about it. From a dark 5am start to midday sun on a run that goes longer than planned.
Which lens is best for early morning or low-light runs?
The Adaptor or Infinity. Both use photochromic technology that starts near-clear in low light and adapts as the sun comes up. You don't need to swap lenses or choose between protection and visibility. They handle it.
Will my lenses fog up?
Infinity has the full anti-fog system built in. It's the right choice if fogging is your main concern. Specifically engineered for it. Other lenses are optimised for their own conditions and every frame is fitted with ventilation gaps.
Can I swap lenses between frames?
Currently, each frame and lens combination is sold as a complete pair. Interchangeable lens functionality is in R&D however. Subscribe to our newsletter to hear when it launches.
Frames
Which frame should I choose?
It depends on your running style and fit preference. Re.balance is the versatile everyday option with a fixed nose bridge. Re.flex is lightweight and adaptive for long runs and all-day comfort. Re.silience is built tougher for trail and longer terrain. Re.glide is slim and aero for road runners chasing speed. The best place to start is the Compare Frames page, or take the quiz for a personalised match in under two minutes.
Does face shape matter when choosing a frame?
It can help narrow it down, but for running, fit and comfort should come first. The Compare Frames page has a face shape guide if you want a starting point. Honestly though, the most important thing is that the frame sits securely and doesn't move when you run.
Is the nose pad adjustable on all frames?
Most frames (Re.flex, Re.silience, and Re.glide) come with adjustable nose pieces so you can dial in the fit. Re.balance uses a fixed nose bridge, which suits a wider range of face shapes and sits securely without adjustment.
Do Re. sunglasses work with prescription lenses?
Yes. Re.flex, Re.silience, and Re.glide all include a free prescription insert frame with your order. Take it to your optometrist and they can fit your prescription. Re.balance does not currently support prescription inserts.
Can I try them on before buying?
We don't have physical retail locations yet. But we offer a 30-day return policy, so you can order, try them on, and return them if they're not right. No fuss.
What are the frames made from?
All Re. frames use TR-90, a premium flexible thermoplastic that's lightweight, heat-resistant, and durable under running conditions. The grip pads use anti-slip rubber to keep the frame locked in as you sweat.
Can I customise my Re. sunglasses?
Not at the moment. We focus on getting the core product right first. If customisation is something you're interested in, let us know. Runner feedback shapes what we build next.
